UPDATE: As of Music Boss 1.7+, manual input of “Send Intent” actions in Tasker is no longer the preferred method for adding Music Boss/Tasker Actions. Music Boss is now integrated with Tasker as a plugin. It is now much easier to create Music Boss/Tasker Actions. Feel free to open the “Music Boss Tasker Intents” tab above for details on all the intents that can be sent from Music Boss.
For help with “Volume Intent” please select the “Volume Intents” tab above.
In Tasker:
1) Go to the “Tasks” tab.
2) Press + to add an Action.
3) Choose “Plugin.”
4) Press the “pencil” icon to configure the Action.
5) Press “Music Boss Action.”
6) Choose a Music Boss Action (Note: Watch App Customization Actions are only available for those who have purchased the Customization Expansion Pack).
Requires Music Boss 1.7.4+
Music Boss has the ability to broadcast Volume Up and Down intents instead of adjusting Media Volume. This could be useful if you want to create some Tasker Profiles to emulate hardware volume button presses for apps that control other hardware (Chromecast, etc).
Emulating System Hardware Volume Button Presses in Tasker Requires Root Access.
A few steps to get you started:
1) Expand your app in Music Boss and select “Volume Intents instead of Media Volume.” This app will no longer adjust Media Volume when in use when you press Volume Up and Down on your Pebble.
This example will show Volume Up. You can do the same for Volume Down afterwards.
2) In Tasker go to the Tasks tab and create a new Task, call it “HW VOL UP.”
3) Press + to add an Action and choose “Input” then “Button.”
4) Choose Volume Up.
5) Press the Home button (app icon at top left corner of app) until you return to Tasks.
6) Go to the Profile Tab and create a new profile. Choose “Event” as the profile trigger.
3) Choose “System” and then “Intent Received”.
5) For the Action enter ca.rebootsramblings.musicboss.VOL_UP and press the home button.
6) Choose the “HW VOL UP” Action.
For Volume Down do the same but with the following intent action:
ca.rebootsramblings.musicboss.VOL_DOWN
CAVEAT (Please read this)
Apps that intercept the hardware button (Plex, Netflix, etc) to adjust externally controlled volume (Chromecast for example) require that the Android device screen be turned ON and that the app (Plex, Netflix, etc) be in focus. For this to work for externally controlled volume the device screen must be on when you press the volume buttons. I recommend you have Tasker turn the screen on (and unlock the phone) before performing this task. The phone cannot be on the lock screen.
Music Boss has a Broadcast Receiver that receives the following intents from Tasker.
When creating your “Action” in Tasker please ensure that you select ”Send Intent” under Misc.
Will return to either your watch face or Glance, depending on what you select in the Preferences for Music Boss Watch App.
The app must already be present in your Music Boss Quick Access App List
Use this app to get the package name of your Music/Audio App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gijoon.pkgnameviewer
Music Boss has the ability to broadcast the Name and Package of the currently controlled app when the current app is changed. This is achieved by sending the following intent action to Music Boss:
Music Boss will respond to a request to broadcast the name and package name of the app it is currently controlling.
Now you can create Tasker Profiles to trigger these Actions based on whatever conditions suit your needs. Be creative!
The purpose of these features is to give users more control over how they use Music Boss. If you aren’t sure how to configure Tasker Actions and Profiles, kindly spend some time reading the Tasker Help Forum or by searching Google.
